Uncharted Empires arrived today. There are Villein Penitents on one of the Brothermark lists (the Basilean theme list one). That means they can't be taken as allies in a Basilean army but most of their list is Basilean anyway. Just no angels basically (and more archers, knights, heroes etc). I'll take a closer look later and see how they compare to see if they are the same unit or if the name's just similar.
Rhordia looks solid. Not so sure about the Varangur list. That being said the Draugr (viking zombies) in the Varangur list look really funky. They've got iron resolve and wild charge +d3!

Wish i had loads a money like you and i would have bought it at full price Oh I don't have loads of money. At least not any more . I wish someone did good Draugr miniatures. Oh wait, I can see how expansive the Skyrim Draugr are next year when Modiphius brings them out can't I? But seriously. Fast zombies with Iron resolve. That's just crazy. Who was that tiny little company that did a few white walker miniatures again? Elladan! That was it. The Fireforge undead look a bit too southern but they might fit the part if a load of the living fireforge humans were used in the same army (or as regular opponents).

I've checked. The Villein Penitents in the Brotherhood list are the old Villein Ploughshares from the Brotherhood list (with a slight points adjustment and nerve tweak). They aren't that similar to the old Basilean penitents. Better just sue the Flagellants as Sisterhood/Nuns then. They're mostly monks after all.

Okay, so about the Draugr. This is good. Chaos Sorcerers (the Magi) have this great new ability. At the start of the shooting phase each Chaos Sorcerer gets to transfer up to 2 points of damage from a friendly unit within 6" to a friendly Draugr unit that is also within 6" of the Chaos Sorcerer. So you've got fast zombies with iron resolve who also get to absorb damage from your other units like a mini martyr's blessing. Now that does involve running the chaos sorcerers up near the front a bit more but if they're sitting behind hordes of viking zombies then they're fairly safe (especially as the zombies are fearless and have iron resolve to boot). That means the zombies are never wavering so they'll always get their iron resolve point back as long as they have to roll. For extra fun you could have an allied necromancer with 3 more regular zombie units (who wouldn't function the same but by that point you'd have 6 units of zombies on the table for a massive army of the dead and the opponent would need to keep track of which zombies are fast damage sponges and which ones gain buffs from the allied necromancer instead). Going with a whole Hel theme or Ragnarok theme could make for a very interesting Varangur army indead. Fenris Games did some nice Draugr but they all seem to be out of stock. Red Box allegedly do some but they're like Hasslefree size. Plus they might not even be out yet. Gorgon Studios do a pack of 8 but they aren't as good as the Fenris Games ones. You know, actually... Do CMON do White Walkers yet for Game of Thrones? Basically no. And the gorgeous zombies from Fireforge don't look barbaric enough (although if fielded with the Fireforge infantry they could look like the necromancers keep animating the dead that fall in battle). Some of the zombies are based on the northern warriors and some are based on their unreleased not Lannister troops which didn't get funding.
