Special tournament Rule: The King is Dead, Long Live the King! If the army General is killed, instead of being forced to withdraw, a subordinate character may try and replace the General for the battle. Make an unmodified Command test with the character who has the next highest Command value in the army (players choice in case of tied values). If they pass, the army does not withdraw, and the Character who passed becomes the General, keeping their current Command value, but gaining Battlefield Command Range. If they fail, you may repeat this process until you are successful with another character, in descending Command value order. If all Characters fail this test, the army withdraws as normal. Note that a replacement General also benefits from The King is Dead, Long Live the King!
This rule is designed to encourage players to mount their Generals on monster mounts and commit them to combat without fear of losing the game.
should we play this as a house rule?

I'd modify it slightly. You roll for one character and that's it. If you fail nobody else gets to have a go. If you pass, then the rule applies again if that character dies. having a long drawn out series of dice rolls to keep trying to succeed feels like drawing it out a bit much. having it be one all or nothing roll makes it feel more important (instead of feeling like delaying the inevitable & trying repeatedly for an ever dwindling chance of success).

I can see why tourneys are implementing it, its also pretty shiity to happen in a string f linked games, specially if it happens in the first game, potentially not worth playing the next games, potentially,
But we only just manage to get through a game In an evening, id not use the rule, when he dead hes dead, game over maahn !.
But if we were to do a mini campaign/tourney, then id be interested in it "as is"
