So I'm getting five things from this. Noticed it last night.
1: Shame. Some of the miniatures were really nice (especially some of the new teams they've been putting out lately). 2: They basically didn't like the way the meta was shaping up. It was too advantageous for the tournament players to ignore the ball and basically "not play football" but do other things for victory points instead. Lots of cautious positioning and hanging just outside range dancing around each other. 3: They must be making enough money from their other games (Dark Souls board game, Godtear, Resident Evil board games etc) to think they can manage without needing Guild Ball to lean on as their main product line any more. Perhaps it's been overtaken by some of their other lines. 4: This is suspiciously close to the announcement of the new season of Blood Bowl. Maybe they didn't fancy the competition. 5: Why this month? Why couldn't it be next month when I'll have more money?

The interesting thing is that everyone who hasn't played it thinks it's like Blood Bowl or asks if it's like Blood Bowl.
It's not like Blood Bowl.
It's a lot closer to Malifaux with a side order of early Warmahordes as well (but mostly Malifaux 'though).

Okay,
so there's a rumour doing the rounds that a private equity firm bought a load of shares in steamforged and flooded the board with their people (then rebranded their own company so it looked like Steamforged Games still owned Steamforged Games). These private equity people are only interested in the CMON model of pumping out board games (preferably with kickstarter funding), not maintaining much in the long term, then gutting the company and moving on when they're done. Guild Ball wasn't bringing in the numbers that they wanted so it got killed off even 'though the company founders who created it really wanted to keep it going for the last half a season.
That being said they've got Ian Livingstone on the board of directors and some other directors with a heavy backing in the gaming industry who're clearly interested in putting out good quality stuff. It's more this undercover hostile takeover that appears to be the problem.

Sad to see something non GW go. just cos it wasn't for me don't mean it should disappear. There was a player base and if the other systems are doing the numbers why not let it live, after all every pound sent here doesn't go to GW.
Has Mantic now dropped Deadball?

Yh , from hat raff posted , its morea a death at corporate level , rasther maybe sales ( although i dont know orr monitor DB really) But as to Dreadball Ive got dreadball and most of season one, ( then stopped collecting) I dont know why Possibly, if ima play a fantasy (scifi) football game, then why dont i play BB ( which i know i like) No one else displayed an inklingof interest to play it, ( but again BB got sparks) DB are/were all " restic" , and its kinda become a hated product ( personally), its liek a worse FW resin ype thing . (its harder to remov mold lines and harder to "bend back" with hot water ) DB doesnt hold its value, BB can almost get money back ,if not painted with fingers I could never shift teh sealed GB set with DC-mat, both brand new never used, but anything BB went for near asking. maybe its a perception thing, no idea. ive always wanted to support the small(er) guys (sexist) , but theres hardly any to none interest. The new members we are gettign are for a GW game. Example, just deleting emails and found one to "the woods" game maker, i bought the game to try ans support the project, (better than backing a kicker to saupport a game) , but no one has ever mentioned it, ive never brought up the subject, but now the game is kinda dead to me , all interest gone Given teh choice of playing a woods game or a 28mm Nap game and teh Nap win every time So i think its very difficult to get a " new"/small game to be supported/ played there is more, but its toooooo loooooong now jm2pw

I bought drowned earth as I liked the concept, liked the models and liked the way it played on the read through and have yet to clean up or prime stuff from 3 years ago...
I bought infinity because it looks really cool and bright and fun determined I would go to the Christchurch club and join in with that. I’ve painted some of it and tried to play a couple of at home games but that’s been 8 years in the doing.
But I can pick up my bloodbowl board and get a game most anywhere.

Ywp, i also picked up some infinity cos it looked cool ,and io thought , only needa couple of models ( compared to). built a load, and .......... several years on , havnt touched it, even bought a starter of Red something to leave at the club, not been looked at. I think , especially at teh club, theres is a core of GW/FW games, 28mm Naps, Lotr Wotring, and ithink after that it what eve "YOU" like, but dont expect to play very often even K47 has not had an outting for maybe a year maybe more. Im only summarising here i may have missed some games etc above. The "being able to play BB" in lvl entoy,GW shops and i imaghine most club hjave BB fraternity hidden in there somewhere Also if im gonna buy a fantasy football game, whe doin pros and cons, other than price, BB wins every time better qualitybetter amrket value better chance of game else where etc
